(West Warwick, RI)--A convicted felon who was notably appointed to the pension committee in West Warwick is now off the committee.WPRI-TV reports Jerry Leite resigned on Monday before the West Warwick Town Council could take a vote on whether to remove him from the position.Leite previously defended his appointment, saying the state constitution allows a convicted felon to attain an office three years after completing their sentence. The West Warwick police officer union called for Leite to leave, noting he was convicted of stealing donations for a charity event for a murdered Providence police officer.
