Grocery Store Owner Drops Plan To Name It Benny's

(Richmond, RI)--The owner of a new South County grocery store who had intended to use the name of the now-closed Benny's department store chain is backing off that plan.A spokesperson for Benny's said the market in Richmond did not get permission to use the name despite the owner saying the rights had been obtained.Representatives of the Rhode Island Secretary of State's office, which processed the trademark registration, said on Friday that the trademark should not have been granted.
