PATIENTS PREFER DOCTOR VIDEO CHATS OVER IN-PERSON VISITS

In a world where more and more things can be ordered online and delivered, perhaps it's no surprise people say they'd rather talk to their doctor over video chat than actually go into the office. A recent study from the University of Houston found about 90 percent of their telehealth patients talk to doctors over video chat versus making in-person visits when the option exists. Nearly half of those patients said they couldn't visit their doctor in-person because the office was closed or there were no appointments available. Study leader Winston Liaw says, "People are interested in convenience and the health care system and primary care need to adapt to technology and also patient preferences. If we can't adapt it's a missed opportunity."
