(Providence, RI)--The Providence Police Department is being credited for ending a standoff situation peacefully on Tuesday.Three armed men held a family of three hostage for hours early in the morning at a house on Norwich Avenue.Police Chief Hugh Clements said the arrested individuals talked about the connection that the negotiator had made with them being the only reason they surrendered.Providence dealt with a rash of home invasion incidents last summer.
