DEM Holding Hearing For Proposed Fee Increases

(Providence, RI)--The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management is going to hold a public hearing next week about its proposed fee increases for campgrounds and other park rentals.DEM officials recently said they were dropping plans to increase parking lot fees at state beaches, and they say the revenue from the camping and park rental hikes will be reinvested into the state's parks and beaches system.As part of the proposal, the state says camping prices will be based on location and available utilities.The hearing next Tuesday is at the DEM headquarters in Providence.
