(Washington, DC)--Rhode Island Congressman David Cicilline says he is leading the effort in the fight to protect funding for the Special Olympics.The Department of Education has proposed cutting 18-million dollars for the Olympics, releasing a statement on Wednesday saying it is better-supported with other state, local and private funds.A letter from Cicilline being sent to the leaders of the House Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies asks for support of critical funding to provide opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
