Committee Doesn't Approve Fane Tower Design

(Providence, RI)--Meeting agendas in Providence are filling up again on the topic of a proposal to construct Rhode Island's tallest building. The city's Downtown Design Review Committee voted unanimously on Monday to recommend that the I-195 Redevelopment Commission reject the design plan of the 46-foot Fane Tower. The tower has previously been granted a zoning ordinance from the city to go above the legally-zoned height limit. The committee's vote mostly centered on the proposed building's tallness, and members were also concerned about other factors, including the shape.
