Post-Secondary Education Commissioner Retiring

(Providence, RI)--Rhode Island's commissioner of post-secondary education is retiring.The Providence Journal reports Brenda Dann-Messier will step down next month, saying she's transitioning to a part-time job working for a national firm.Dann-Messier was named commissioner in 2017.This comes as a cost-savings committee organized by Governor Gina Raimondo recommended merging that office with the state Department of Education, a move that could save a million dollars, according to another report from the Journal.
