Power Plant Cooling Towers Demolished

(Somerset, MA)--Drivers going out of Rhode Island eastbound on Interstate 195 are no longer seeing the two cooling towers that once operated at the Brayton Point Power Station in Somerset, Massachusetts.The large, concrete towers were imploded on Saturday, about a month after the three generating units were demolished.Brayton Point, which was the largest coal-fired power station in New England and the last coal-fired station in Massachusetts to feed the regional power grid, shut down in 2017.
