Man Accused Of Sending Threats To Professor Appears In Court

(Boston, MA)--The Rhode Island man accused of sending violent and threatening emails to a Massachusetts college professor is staying behind bars after a federal court appearance on Monday.Matthew Haviland, of North Kingstown, waived his right to a detention hearing in a Boston courtroom as his attorney said he is seeking more information about the defendant's mental health.Haviland apparently sent the threats over the professor's support for abortion rights and also allegedly said he would kill every Democrat in the world to prevent more abortions from happening.
