(Providence, RI)--April showers this year in Rhode Island fell at a high rate. The National Weather Service says Providence had six-point-eight-one inches of rain last month, making it the eight-rainiest April on record in the city. One more inch would have vaulted last month to number-two, but the record for most rain in April was set in 1983, when nearly thirteen inches fell. The weather service says another half-inch to an inch is expected up and down the state through Saturday night.
