(Washington, DC)--Senator Sheldon Whitehouse is leading a group of ten senators from coastal New England who are re-introducing a bill to ban oil and gas drilling from the region's shoreline.Whitehouse says while the Trump administration has stalled on releasing the next draft of its five-year offshore leasing plan, it has not fully abandoned efforts to open areas of the Atlantic continental shelf to offshore drilling.Whitehouse says opening the area to the activity would be a big threat to Rhode Island's coastal economy.
