Warwick School Committee Approves Lunch Policy Change

(Warwick, RI)--Warwick Public Schools students are being allowed to choose any lunch they want regardless of their account status, after a school committee decision on Tuesday. The school district was accused of paving the road for "lunch-shaming" by declaring that students who were in debt could only be served a cold sun-butter-and-jelly sandwich. The committee is, at the same time, working on a policy that would give Warwick Public Schools the ability to go through the small claims court process to make sure parents are paying their kid's lunch debts.
