(Providence, RI)--About two-hundred abortion-rights activists held a rally outside a Democratic fundraising event in Providence on Thursday.Protesters near Maria's Cucina restaurant in Federal Hill, organized by the Womxn [[ women ]] Project, asked Rhode Island Senate President Dominick Ruggerio to allow for a full Senate vote on a reproductive rights bill.The legislation was defeated by a 5-to-4 vote by the Senate Judiciary Committee earlier this month.Ruggerio said in a statement that he appointed a small working group this week to focus on the legislation.
