Malaysia To Return Other Countries Plastic Garbage

Looks like Malaysia is not interested in other people's garbage. Especially their plastic garbage.

Malaysia said it will return 450 tons of contaminated plastic waste to the countries that shipped it, in a refusal to become a dumping ground for the world's trash. Ever since China stopped taking the world's plastic trash, Malaysia has become an illegal dumping ground.

At least 60 containers stacked with contaminated waste were smuggled into the country and will be sent back to their countries of origin. Those countries include the US, UK, Canada, Japan, China, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Netherlands, and Singapore. All should expect waste products to be returned.

Last year, China banned plastic waste imports as part of an initiative to clean up its environment and many are hoping this will shed some light on how big a problem the world has with plastics and garbage.
