(Tiverton, RI)--The Tiverton Town Council has voted on a revised resolution that focuses on Second Amendment rights, but leaves out the words "sanctuary town".The Newport Daily News reports the council approved the measure, four-to-three, at a meeting on Monday, after a Second Amendment Sanctuary resolution failed by that same margin last week; one town councilor changed her vote. Both resolutions prohibit funds to be used towards the confiscation of weapons and for police to use discretion in enforcing gun laws.Several other Rhode Island towns have passed amendments that do spell out Second Amendment sanctuary.
