Rainn Wilson Calls Out LAPD Over Racism

Rainn Wilson is calling out the Los Angeles Police Department for not taking a racist incident seriously. Taking to Instagram, he’s shared a “chilling” photo sent to him by his friend Jamey. In the pic? Rope tied up into a noose, hanging from a tree in his friend’s front yard. That friend, is Black.

Wilson says it was Jamey’s 17-year-old daughter who found the noose, and therefore “reminded of what hate looks like.” Jamey’s family is African American, and as Wilson points out, the noose is considered a symbol of “violence and oppression.”

When the police were called, Wilson says they basically said, “what’s the big deal?” “Well, officer, the noose is the symbol of lynching which was used to hang thousands of African Americans, especially by the [Ku Klux] Klan,” he notes. “Many folks are in denial about the extent to which racism exists in our country in 2019.”
