Rhode Island Health Care Merger Talks: Outside Consultant Brought In

(Providence, RI)--An outside consultant is being brought on to facilitate talks to bring Care New England, Lifespan and Brown University together under one healthcare network.Rhode Island Foundation president and CEO Neil Steinberg tells The Providence Journal that the foundation is putting up two-hundred-thousand dollars and the Partnership for Rhode Island is putting up one-hundred grand for the work of Chicago-based consulting firm Chartis.Steinberg says the consultant will report to Governor Gina Raimondo, who has pushed for the integration after Boston-based Partners HealthCare withdrew a bid to acquire Care New England this week.
