Amazon is pulblicly taking issue with a lawmaker who claimed its workers are paid "starvation wages."
New York Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was speaking on ABC's “This Week Sunday” when she said that Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos was a billionaire because he paid people so little. Amazon tweeted back at AOC yesterday, calling the lawmaker "just wrong."
The company touted its 15-dollar minimum wage and full benefits from day one. A spokesperson for Ocasio-Cortez said that Amazon still built its business by extorting cities and governments for tax breaks.
Amazon shot back by blasting every talking point of AOC’s. They not only pay a minimum of 15 dollars an hour (depending on your region), but provide full health care from day one, and pre-pays 95-percent of continuing education tuition through its Career Choice program.
