(Providence, RI)--People are reacting to the Providence Catholic Diocese releasing a list of 50 priests and deacons living and deceased who were credibly accused of sexual abuse of minors. The group Survivors Against Priest Sex Abuse, or SNAP, called on Bishop Thomas Tobin to update the list to include information about when the archdiocese first received the allegations and what it did in response.Ann Hagan Webb, whose lawmaker sister Caroline Hagan McEntee introduced a bill allowing for a longer statute of limitations in abuse cases, said she hopes the publication of the names could spur more possible victims to take action. That statute of limitation extension bill was signed into law by Governor Gina Raimondo yesterday.
