Raimondo Vetoes Bill Changing Approval For Snow Day Education Plans

(Providence, RI)--Governor Gina Raimondo is vetoing legislation that would change the rules for school districts creating education plans for snow days.Currently, districts can submit a plan to the Department of Education for a maximum of five snow days. The twin bills from the state House and Senate that the governor nixed would have allowed districts to create plans on their own without state approval, according to a report from The Providence Journal.Raimondo said RIDE approval makes sure that students are involved in high-quality educational experiences if a virtual learning day is to count as one of the 180 official school days.
