The temp in Washington may be rising in relation to calls for impeachment, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi isn’t budging, she also says she’s not trying to "run out the clock" on impeachment. Speaking at the Capitol, Pelosi said any decision on impeachment “will be made in a timely fashion, depending on the flow of evidence.”
Pelosi has been resistant to impeachment. There are concerns among some Democrats that the window on possible impeachment is closing with the 2020 elections on the horizon. But candidate (and billionaire)Tom Steyer? He’s doubling-down on his call for impeachment proceedings to begin. On NBC's “Meet The Press,” Steyer called Trump “the most corrupt President in American history” and said he wants the case against him brought before the American people.
But Pelosi isn’t alone with her approach. California Congressman Adam Schiff says patience is importance – because of potential results. “I worry…about the message of taking an impeachment case to trial, losing that case, having the president acquitted,” he told “Meet The Press.” “And then having an adjudication that this conduct is not impeachable.”
