EEE Reported In Westerly; Central Falls Restricting Activities

(Undated)--The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management is reporting the presence of the Eastern equine encephalitis virus in Westerly.A horse tested positive on August 24th, according to the DEM, which also notes a mosquito sample pool in Westerly has yielded EEE-carrying pests.That brings the total in the state this year up to three.In Central Falls, where the first two positive samples originated, officials are announcing the cancellation of an outdoor event tonight and the moving of several others to indoor areas.
