State Police Plans To Close Barracks, Open Substations

(North Scituate, RI)--The Rhode Island State Police is planning to add new substations and close some barracks.Superintendent Colonel James Manni says the substations will be in Exeter, one at the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority in Jamestown, and one in Bristol at the mouth of the Mount Hope Bridge.Along with that, Manni says the plan is to close the Hope Valley barracks in Richmond and the Wickford barracks in North Kingstown, keep the closed Portsmouth barracks closed, and condense operations.
