Kids Are Eating Vaping Pods And Cartridges

Now that the spotlight on vaping is shining so brightly, more safety concerns are popping up.

Dr. Stephen Thornton of the University of Kansas Health System Poison Control Center, says there’s been a rise in calls about kids ingesting vaping pods, cartridges, and fluids that contain nicotine. Poison Control Centers have seen nearly double the calls they did in 2013.

Nicotine can make anyone very sick if swallowed. Some signs to look out for include:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Dizziness
  • Tremors
  • Anxiety and confusion
  • In extreme instances, symptoms can include seizures, coma and respiratory failure

Keeping vaping supplies out of children’s reach is the best defense.
