The trade war may hit our grocery budget.
Phil Kafarakis president of the Specialty Food Association, warns that our weekly trip could cost 25 to 40-percent more soon. He said the short warning for producers and exporters about the tariffs will probably pass directly to shoppers. The timing may make holiday shopping less joyous, especially in the liquor department.
That’s because the 25-percent tariff on single malt scotch whiskey represents over half the total value of UK products on the US government tariff list. For the last 25 years, the spirits trade between the countries had been tariff free.
Basically, save your spare change and rework your budget for winter.
