The U.N. Security Council is holding an emergency meeting today.
The call comes after Turkey launched an offensive against Kurds in northern Syria. The attack came after President Trump pulled U.S. forces out of the region, a move that drew condemnation from both parties who say the U.S. is abandoning its allies. Thousands have already fled in the face of ground and air attacks.
Five security council members nations; Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, and Poland requested the emergency session.
