Turkey Summons US Ambassador Over House Resolutions

Turkey has summoned the U.S. ambassador after the House of Representatives voted to recognize the killings of Armenians a century ago as a genocide.

That’s not the only thing that upset the Turkish government. The House also called for sanctions over Turkey's invasion of northern Syria, which went forward after President Trump pulled U.S. forces out of the region.

Turkey denies that the killings of Armenians in World War One was an orchestrated genocide. The foreign ministry says both bills were fashioned for “domestic consumption” in the U.S. and would undermine relations.
