Florida School Deputy Charged For Allegedly Slamming Student To The Floor

A school deputy in Florida is out of jail after being charged with child abuse for slamming a girl to the floor.

Willard Miller turned himself in yesterday. He's caught on school surveillance video grabbing the 15-year-old girl by the throat, throwing her down and then kneeling on her back to handcuff her. A police union president says the girl kicked Miller before threatening him.

The school where he works is for children with emotional and behavioral problems. Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony says "His actions were deplorable. They were uncalled for and they violated multiple policies just on the optics.”

Miller has been with the Broward Sheriff's Office for three years and a school resource officer for almost two years.
