Attorney General Bill Barr is turning his focus to gun violence by launching a new program.
The program is called "Project Guardian" and it will be a re-vamped version of "Project Trigger Lock." Speaking in Memphis yesterday, Barr said the program will "resuscitate" and "double-down" on the principles that were successful from the past.
Barr says "Project Guardian" will implement five basic elements, including a crackdown on federal gun laws and coordinated response to mental health situations. There will also be a partnership with local law enforcement to help reduce violent crime.
Washington turned its focus on reducing gun violence earlier this year after a slew of mass shootings in August left 53 people dead.
