Board Votes To Raise Tuition At URI, RIC, CCRI

(Providence, RI)--The Rhode Island Board of Education has voted to raise tuition at three state-run universities, according to a WJAR-TV report. The increase is about five-hundred dollars for in-state students at the University of Rhode Island and Rhode Island College, while in-state students at Community College of Rhode Island would see an increase of about two-hundred.A state education official tells the news station the board vote does not necessarily mean the hikes will go into effect, and that the General Assembly will have discretion over them as normal state budget requests.
