House Passes Stop-Gap Spending Bill

The government won’t be shutting down this month.

The House passed a short-term spending bill to fund federal agencies until right before Christmas. That means a holiday shutdown is still possible. The idea behind the funding is that the additional time will help negotiators wrap up more than $1.4 trillion in unfinished appropriations bills.

The roadblocks for a compromise and full funding bill include the impeachment inquiry.

The measure is now awaiting Senate approval and President Trump has indicated he’ll sign it.
