The Taliban was the deadliest terror group in 2018, according to a new report out today.
The 2019 Global Terrorism Index found that the Afghanistan-based group killed more people than ISIS. Most of those deaths were in Afghanistan, where more than seven-thousand people were killed in nearly a thousand attacks, including one that left more than 450 dead.
Half of the group's attacks were on military and police. The Taliban have continued their spree this year, including taking responsibility for the downing of a US helicopter today,as we told you earlier.
It was the first year since 2014 that ISIS fell from the top spot, mostly thanks to their military defeats in Syria and Iraq. The good news is, overall global terrorism deaths fell by over 15-percent.
