Hitler’s Birth House Is Set To Become A Police Station

After years of debate on what to do with it, the home where Adolf Hitler was born will be used for the good of the community.

Austria is turning the house into a police station. The future of the house had been in legal limbo in a dispute between the government and the house's owner, until the courts ruled in the government's favor.

Officials wanted to take possession of the house to keep it from becoming a pilgrimage site for neo-Nazis. Austria’s Minister of the Interior notes "The future use of the house by the police should set an unmistakable sign that this building is permanently removed from memory of Nazism.”

Hitler was born in the 17th century house in 1889.
