Judge Rules Former WH Counsel Don McGahn Must Testify

A federal judge has directed White House Counsel Don McGahn to testify before the House...and delivered a sharp rebuke of President Trump simultaneously. Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson has rejected the Trump administration's claim that McGahn couldn't be forced to testify because he was a close adviser to the President.

As you likely know, the House Judiciary Committee is investigating Trump's actions during the special counsel investigation into Russian election interference – as the findings of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report suggested that Trump obstructed justice in the investigation.

In his order, Judge Brown said that "no one is above the law." "Stated simply, the primary takeaway from the past 250 years of recorded American history is that Presidents are not kings," Jackson wrote. "It is indisputable that current and former employees of the White House work for the People of the United States, and that they take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
