A teenager has been hospitalized and arrested after trying to open fire at a high school in Wisconsin. Speaking with reporters, Waukesha Police Chief Russell Jack says a 17-year-old male student brought a handgun to South High School yesterday.
The student resource officer responded and began dialogue with the suspect to try and de-escalate the situation. When the suspect ignored the warnings and pointed the weapon, an officer used his state-issued firearm to shoot the suspect. Jack said the suspect was transported to a local hospital and at last check, remains in stable condition. The student was the only person injured.
School Superintendent Todd Gray says they plan to have all students return to school today.
