School Resource Officer Shot Student After Being Stabbed

Police in Oshkosh, Wisconsin say a school resource officer shot a 16-year-old student after being stabbed yesterday. It was thesecond straight day that a school resource officer shot a student during a confrontation at a Wisconsin high school.

According to Oshkosh Police Chief Dean Smith, the officer called in for backup and medical assistance at 9:12am and an officer was on the scene two minutes later. Oshkosh West High School was put on lockdown. Both the student and officer are being treated at a hospital. Neither is facing life-threatening injuries.

Superintendent Vickie Cartwright said there will be no classes tomorrow at all Oshkosh Area School District campuses, adding, “The safety of our students is paramount to us.”
