(Providence, RI)--Interim Providence Schools Superintendent Frances Gallo is nearing the end of her time on the job.Gallo will conclude her time on the clock in the 2019 calendar year at the end of this week due to retirement limits.She said in a letter this week to school staff that she saved a few days in 2020.Dorothy Smith, a longtime school district administrator who previously filled in as acting superintendent following the resignation of Christopher Maher, will be named the new interim.The state's education commissioner has not yet hired a "turnaround superintendent" as part of the state takeover of the Providence district.
