DEM Asking People Not To Flush Disinfectant Wipes

(Burrillville, RI)--The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management is reminding people to refrain from flushing disinfectant wipes to help avoid sewer backups.The department says earlier this week, it was alerted by the Burrillville Sewer Commission that the town's wastewater treatment facility and pump stations have been getting clogged as a result of the wipes being flushed down toilets.The DEM says even wipes labeled "flushable" should be thrown in the trash.
