Judge Denies Prison Release Request For Ponzi Scheme Operator

(Providence, RI)--A federal judge on Monday denied a prison release for a Rhode Island woman who was sentenced in a ten-million-dollar fraud scheme.Monique Brady of East Greenwich had requested to be released into home confinement until the coronavirus pandemic subsided.The U.S. Justice Department said Brady, an attorney and businesswoman, duped family members, friends and business associates as she operated a Ponzi scheme worth over ten-million dollars to help finance an extravagant lifestyle.She pleaded guilty to a number of charges last year and was sentenced to nearly a decade in prison.
