(Providence, RI)--The Rhode Island Legislature's Joint COVID-19 Emergency Spending Task Force held its first meeting on Tuesday.Governor Gina Raimondo's administration told members Rhode Island has spent or committed to spending about 156-million dollars so far, much of that on personal protective equipment. Task force co-chair Senator William Conley said yesterday that he would suggest lawmakers have authority over how more than a billion dollars in federal coronavirus relief money received by the state should be spent, but Governor Raimondo has indicated she thinks it's her decision to make.
