(Point Judith, RI)--Yesterday and today represent the 75-year anniversary of the Battle of Point Judith during World War Two.In 1945, days before the war ended in Europe, a German U-boat patrolling off the coast of Rhode Island sunk the SS Black Point, which had previously served in World War One under the name USS Fairmont, killing twelve.A U.S. naval warship team found and destroyed the U-boat, killing fifty-five on board.
