Fines Possible For Violators Of Face-Covering Order In RI

(Providence, RI)--Starting Friday, the state of Rhode Island is requiring people to cover their face while in public.Governor Gina Raimondo on Tuesday said violators will face a not-yet-determined civil penalty.Exceptions will be made for people with medical or developmental conditions.Raimondo said this is part of a new normal as the state plans for an economic re-opening this upcoming weekend. In other comments yesterday about the state's re-opening plan, Raimondo responded to reports of concerns from Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza and others in the state about re-opening too soon by saying she wants to see the state re-open in a uniform fashion.
