COVID-19 THURSDAY UPDATE: Summer Camps Can Open on June 29th

In her daily briefing on Thursday, Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo announced her goal to have youth summer camps open for in-person operations starting on June 29th, with some restrictions, including:

  • Groups will be limited in number
  • Rigorous cleaning routines required
  • Details will be posted next week on website https://www.reopeningri.com/

However, the governor says that youth sports games will be prohibited until further notice, per CDC recommendations. Summer sports camps may be allowed.

Regarding libraries:

  • Libraries must remain closed, but may provide curbside pickup
  • In-library service will be allowed during Phase 2 of reopening
  • Details are being finalized and will be posted online once they are announced.

Governor Raimondo also announced that a Statewide Virtual Graduation broadcast will be produced and will air on RI PBS TV on June 15th.

Persons tested previous day: 3,679

New fatalities: 6. Total 468

271 hospitalized. 65 in ICU. 42 on ventilators.
