Man Reportedly Requesting Compassionate Release From Sentence For Killings

(Undated)--The man serving a federal life sentence for the carjacking and fatal shooting of a couple in Rhode Island twenty years ago is petitioning for a compassionate release from prison.WBZ-TV in Boston reports the request for Greg Floyd is possibly because of the coronavirus.Floyd admitted to shooting Jason Burgeson and Amy Shute in Johnston after they were carjacked by a group in Providence in June of 2000.Family members reportedly have objected to the release in a letter sent to the warden of the North Carolina prison where Floyd is incarcerated.
