More Asymptomatic Virus Testing, Antibody Study Results Announced

(Providence, RI)--Governor Gina Raimondo on Friday announced that the state's Early Warning Testing System for the coronavirus is being expanded to include asymptomatic restaurant workers and bus drivers.Raimondo said the state has the capacity to test up to nine-hundred people without COVID-19 symptoms per day, but the numbers thus far have not reached that target.State health officials on Friday also released the results of an antibody-testing effort; the presence of antibodies was reported in about two-point-two percent of those who were tested. It is still being researched whether the presence of antibodies protects someone from a future COVID-19 infection.
