Schools Directed To Devise Full In-Person Learning Plans, Alternatives

(Providence, RI)--Governor Raimondo said Friday that the goal is still to resume classroom-learning for all Rhode Island public school students on August 31st, but said it's going to take flexibility and innovation to get it done.School districts are now being required to submit three different re-opening plans by July 17th: full, partial and limited in-person learning, with the switch being made if coronavirus numbers take a bad turn. All three school re-opening plans will have to include putting students in "stable groups", and high school students will have to wear masks if distancing is not possible.Raimondo observed that high schoolers did well with distance-learning this past school year, but said it's a higher priority to make sure younger children can do in-person learning.
