RI Sees First Case Of COVID-Connected Syndrome Diagnosed In Children

(Providence, RI)--For the first time in Rhode Island, a child has been diagnosed with a rare syndrome that has been linked to the coronavirus.State Department of Health director Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott said on Friday that a girl who was afflicted by the so-called multi-system inflammatory syndrome is recovering.Alexander-Scott said decreasing the risk of the spread of the coronavirus will keep the chances of children getting diagnosed with this syndrome very low.Also on Friday, Governor Raimondo said child immunization rates have dropped sharply in the last few months, and that if that doesn't get corrected over the summer, it's going to cause some real issues this winter.
