COVID-19 Update: Cases Still Declining in RI. Casinos, Cinemas Opening

As Rhode Island continues to see the number of cases and hospitalizations related to coronavirus decline, the state entered Phase 3 of its reopening on Tuesday. Almost all business categories have newly expanded crowd limits, except for bars and nightclubs, which remain status quo.

Entertainment facilities of most types are now allowed to open for the first time in several months. Specific crowd restrictions apply, and all venues are requiring that patrons wear face masks. The Twin River Casinos in Lincoln and Tiverton are now both open to the public, after a period of invitation-only gaming. Both facilities are open reduced hours.

Showcase Cinemas has announced that their Quaker Lane location in Warwick will be the first in the country to open. Beginning Friday, July 3rd, the multiplex will show older movies, including Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Ghostbusters, Mission Impossible, Fast and Furious, and Raiders of the Lost Ark, according to the Providence Journal. New releases will start on 7/31 with the thriller "Unhinged," starring Russell Crowe.
