Rhode Island saw 102 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, the first daily total to exceed 100 in over a month. The RI Department of Health reported one new fatality on Monday. At a time when Rhode Island had been bucking the national trend of increasing cases, the news comes as unsettling for many. The state entered Phase 3 of its reopening two weeks ago, with almost all business categories resuming operation except for bars and night clubs.
This week California reversed its plans to open schools on time for in-person classes, and other states are considering doing the same as polls show that a majority of Americans believe that states allowed businesses to reopen too soon.
Governor Gina Raimondo and Health Department Director Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott are scheduled to hold a press conference on Wednesday at 1pm to address the coronavirus pandemic. Listen to the conference live on NewsRadio 920 & 104.7FM.
